Mohamad says Amanah will contest in seats it won in Selangor in GE14

KLANG: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) will contest in the state assembly seats that they previously won in Selangor in the upcoming state election.

Party president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said although Pakatan Harapan's top leadership would have the final say in the list of candidates, the party was almost certain it will seek reelection in seats which it clinched in the 14th General Election.

"I am not sure yet (about the number of seats that Amanah will contest in ), but at least the seats we won before will be contested by Amanah again.

"On whether there will be more or less seats than the last time around, that will be determined by the Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council later," said Mohamad at the 89 Arena Sports Complex Anniversary celebration, here, today.

In GE14 in 2018, Amanah won in the eight state constituencies of Taman Templer, Hulu Kelang, Pandan Indah, Sungai Ramal, Seri Serdang, Morib, Sabak and Meru.

However, two of those Amanah assemblymen in Meru and Sabak later joined PKR.

Meanwhile, Mohamad, who is Agriculture and Food Security Minister assured the people of sufficient food supply, including meat for next week's Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration.

He said the ministry has been carrying out constant monitoring of agriculture supply chains. He said the ministry's agencies such as Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) and National Farmers Association (Nafas) would also intervene if there are cases of sudden price increases in produce.

"Fama and Nafas will take action similar to the way they did during Ramadan. The price of meat can be controlled and even sold at cheaper prices."

Mohamad said Fama is planning to increase its branches nationwide to beef up food security

"Food security has indeed become a global issue, not just in Malaysia. The whole world is involved," he said.
