Kit Siang threatens to sue Annuar Musa over May 13 claim

PETALING JAYA: DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang has threatened to sue Tan Sri Annuar Musa Annuar Musa for associating him with the race riots on May 13, 1969.

The DAP stalwart has categorically denied being involved in the incident on May 13.

Annuar, a recent Pas member, reportedly accused Lim of stoking racial tensions, according to an on-line report yesterday.

A "book" that the former minister cited as containing a collection of Lim's speeches was mentioned.

"It includes one while the killings were taking place in Kampung Baru. Lim was giving a speech in Kota Kinabalu, still fanning the flames for bumiputera and non-bumiputera issues," he was quoted by news portal FMT as saying at a Pas ceramah in Bachok, Kelantan.

But the former Iskandar Puteri MP has denied the existence of such a book.

"It is a figment of Annuar's imagination". In a statement, Lim said, "I have told my lawyers to take steps to clear my name.

Hanif Omar, a former inspector general of police, was sued for defamation in 2018 by Lim, who claimed that the DAP veteran "wanted to split Malaysia along racial lines."

Hanif formally apologised to Lim for the accusations three years later and withdrew his original comments.

According to the former top cop, Lim's arrest in 1969 was not the result of his calls for racial segregation in the nation.
