KUALA LUMPUR: Pas spiritual leader Datuk Hashim Jasin has asked caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor to be mindful when delivering speeches.
He reminded Sanusi to refrain from making controversial statements that touched on race, religion, and royalty (3R).
In an FMT report today, Hashim acknowledged that Sanusi could be "pretty blunt" and straightforward in his approach.
Still, he emphasised the need to avoid speeches that delve into sensitive topics, particularly with state elections on the horizon.
"When we are on the stage, it can be difficult (to censor ourselves), and these issues crop up." he was quoted as saying.
It was reported that several quarters had claimed that the Perikatan Nasional election director had insulted the Sultan of Selangor during a "ceramah (public talk)".
Police yesterday opened an investigation paper on Sanusi's alleged remark on 3R (Race, Religion and Royalty) issues.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the case was one of the 61 investigation papers opened since March 27.
He said other politicians who were being investigated for 3R included DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng, Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang and Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, along with non-governmental organisations and individuals.
