KOTA BARU: Caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, who was charged with sedition yesterday, will remain Perikatan Nasional's (PN) election director.
Pas spiritual leader Datuk Hashim Jasin said the party has no plan to replace Sanusi with anyone else.
"He (Sanusi) will remain as PN election director for the upcoming state elections.
"So far, we have no reason to change him with someone else just because he was charged in court," he said when contacted.
Hashim urged Pas members and supporters to stop debating on Sanusi's court issue.
"This is the time for us to focus on the coming state elections. We must work hard to achieve victory.
"Pas's election machineries have making the necessary preparations to face this fierce battle," he said.
Sanusi was on Tuesday charged with two counts of uttering seditious remarks that could incite disloyalty towards any ruler.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
He is facing a maximum three-year imprisonment or a RM5,000 fine upon conviction under Section 4(1)(a) of the Sedition Act.
During a PN ceramah in Selayang, he was reported to have belittled Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari's appointment as Selangor menteri besar by Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
