TASEK GELUGOR: Penang DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow has urged Dr P. Ramasamy to reconsider his decision to resign from the party.
The caretaker chief minister said he had persuaded Ramasamy once before this.
"Ramasamy told me that although he could accept the decision of being dropped as a candidate, he was unhappy with how the process was being handled.
"This resulted in him leaving the party, although I had persuaded him (against it) earlier."
Former three-term Prai assemblyman Ramasamy announced earlier today that he had resigned from the DAP.
He announced his decision at a press conference held at his former service centre here.
During his press conference, Ramasamy had also revealed that Chow might be renominated as the chief minister but he had no support in the DAP's state line-up.
He said there was a chance that Chow might not hold the position for too long despite assurances from the national leaders.
He had also said the state executive committee member line-up had been decided by the national leaders.
Chow was also asked if the Indian voters would sway away from supporting Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional following Ramasamy's exit from the party.
"Ramasamy has served for three terms and for sure he has his supporters and followers. Whether there will be any protest votes, it will depend on the voters," he said, admitting however that there might be some effect.
