Tok Mat dismisses claims he did not see eye-to-eye with PM

SEREMBAN: Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan today dismissed claims that he will be dropped from the Cabinet because he did not see eye-to-eye with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Umno deputy president reduced such a claims as absurd and that it was made with bad intention to split the support and the votes among supporters of parties in the unity government.

"Today (yesterday, Aug 10), a clip went viral claiming that I would be sacked from my ministerial position because I was not together (did not see eye-to-eye) with the Prime Minister.

"There were also claims that my termination from my ministerial post because I did not go down to the ground to campaign for the state election.

"This is purely illogical (to say accuse him of not seeing eye-to-eye with the Prime Minister) since I was not well for four days. And of all the ministries, the Defence Ministry received the highest number of special allocations from the Prime Minister," said Mohamad in his speech during a ceramah organised for the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Paroi state seat in Senawang here today.

He later shared all the allocations approved by Anwar for stakeholders of the Defence Ministry including the extension of the RM300 in the Cost of Living Aid (BSH) monthly to non-pensionable veterans from the age of 60.

"Almost 50,000 non-pensionable veterans will benefit from the aid," said Mohamad, who is fondly known among his supporters as Tok Mat.

Earlier today, a clip was spread among social media users claiming that Mohamad would be dropped as the Defence Minister because he had allegedly reached out to Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders.

In his speech, Mohamad also dismissed the claims made by controversial blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin that the former has a conflict of interest in the Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) scandal.

"I was accused being one of the people who make a decision over the project. What is this madness.

"The project occurred was before I become a minister at the federal level. I was in still in Seremban (state government) at the time. I had only been appointed as the Defence Minister in November last year.

"Such claims is an attempt to destroty me (his reputation).. it is a character assasination...," he said.
