Low voter turnout at Taman Templer's polling station: Candidate hopes for a boost later in the day

SELAYANG: Perikatan Nasional's Taman Templer candidate Zaidy Abdul Talib hopes the crowds of voters at the SJK(C) Selayang Baru polling station will increase later today.

Zaidy said the number of votes casted so far were low.

"I see it's a different situation this time (compared to the 15th General Election). Usually by 9am, there will be a crowd, but now it is less.

"I hope more will come out and vote at noon and in the afternoon," he said after visiting the school to observe the voting process for the Taman Templer constituency.

Zaidy is a former Selangor state executive councillor who won the Taman Templer seat in 2013.

He, however, lost the seat to Pakatan Harapan's Mohd Sany Hamzan in 2018.

Zaidy is vying for the seat against Pakatan Harapan's Anfaal Saari and Malaysian United Democratic Alliance's (Muda) Aida Rahman.

The Election Commission said as of 10am, the voters turnout in Terengganu was at 22 per cent, Kedah and Penang were at 20 per cent respectively, 17 per cent in Kelantan, 18 per cent in Negri Sembilan and 19 per cent in Selangor.
