KUALA LUMPUR: The 'black episode' of actor Niezam Zaidi's life in October 2021 has made him a more cautious and self-reflective person.
Back then. the 32-year-old Budak Pailang star was jailed for drug abuse following a police "visit" to a kampung house in Kuala Kangsar, Perak.
In a Harian Metro report yesterday, Niezam said that he was grateful to be able to rise again in his acting career after he received a lot of support from fans who did not judge him.
"I'm grateful because most of them support me, they don't judge me based on past mistakes and willingly give me a second chance in life," he said.
Niezam added: "I am also happy and touched that the TV stations are still accepting me and have never banned me.
"I told them that it doesn't matter if they ban me as long as God doesn't 'ban' me."
Nizam said that he did not blame anyone for getting him into trouble back then because it was entirely his fault that he got caught for drug abuse.
Recalling his experience being detained for three days and two nights in a lockup, Niezam said that his family, especially his father, was always there for him and never left him alone.
"My father Mohd Zaidi Othman, 66, was always by my side even when I went to court. He brought a thick shirt for me so I didn't feel cold.
"I apologised to him and told him I would be coming back soon," he said.
"My father sacrificed a lot for me, he took care of me as a single father."
On Jan 10, 2022, Niezam was fined RM4,000 by the Magistrate's Court of Kuala Kangsar, Perak and underwent supervision by the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) for two years.
The actor had earlier pleaded guilty to possessing drugs after being nabbed by police in Kuala Kangsar.
