KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Supreme Council member Isham Jalil claims that the absence of former Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak made it difficult for the party to win in the elections.
Besides issues with DAP, Isham said that if their former chief was with them for campaigning, they would have a better chance of winning the elections.
He added that though Umno is part of the unity government, Najib is still in prison and 'there is no sight of justice for him'.
Isham said that Najib was only seeking for a fair trial and not for his charges to be dropped.
Isham also claimed that the judges who convicted him were biased with some directly or indirectly involved with the case being judged.
"I have suggested that the government allow house arrest for him while he goes through the process of pardon or retrial or others," he said.
Isham claimed that he was also questioned on the issues related to the party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi by the grassroot supporters.
He said that he addressed the matter during his dialogue sessions with the grassroot members.
However, he urged the president himself to do the same to address their concerns.
