'Reformasi is now reformati', claims Muhyiddin [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyddin Yassin today claimed that the so-called reformation spirit of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the latter's opposition days is dead.

The Pagoh member of parliament (MP) said this could be seen following Anwar's failure to fulfil promises he made after taking over the administration last November.

"During the tabling of the mid-term review of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP), a strategy to strengthen integrity and good governance in building confidence and trust among the people was mentioned (by Anwar) as one of the major thrusts.

"However, I have doubts whether he could fulfil what was announced. This is because less than a year taking over the administration, the reformation promises of 20 years ago have died (reformasi sudah jadi reformati)," he said during the debate session of the 12MP mid-term review in Dewan Rakyat, today.

At the same time, he also questioned the prime minister's integrity and promise to bridge the gap between states' development and claimed that PN-led states were being neglected by the federal government.

"Tambun (Anwar) announced the government's plans to expand Penang International Airport and the Subang Airport, which happens to be in Pakatan Harapan-led states.

"However, the proposed construction of Kulim International Airport in Kedah, which is a state under PN was not mentioned at all.

"Similarly, the equal financial allocation for the opposition MPs was not given. Where is the fairness, integrity and trust ?"

Meanwhile, Muhyiddin, who is PN chairman also questioned the government's formula to end hardcore poverty by the end of the year.

He added that even though the household data on the hardcore poor category in the e-Kasih database decreased from 188,217 to 124,744, the government must take into account the increase in the price of goods, especially daily essential items such as rice.

"Is the poverty line to determine the household income status still relevant and realistic considering the increase in the price of goods and inflation rate now?

"The reality is that the model used to remove poverty has changed, from solely focusing on household income to multi-dimensional poverty including poor education, poor health, poor basic needs and poor living standards.

"Hence, a realistic model of poverty eradication must be established first before promising to eradicate poverty."
