Pahang BN picks Amizar for Pelangai state seat

BENTONG: Barisan Nasional (BN) has named Bentong Umno division committee member Datuk Amizar Abu Adam as its candidate for the Pelangai state by-election on Oct 7.

Umno vice-president and Pahang Umno liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail made the announcement at the Bentong Municipal Council Hall here tonight.

Amsizar had previouly contested the Ketari state seat under the Bentong parliamentary constituency during the 15th general election last year but was defeated by DAP's Thomas Su Keong Siong with a 120 majority in a three-cornered fight.

Su garnered 9,722 votes while Amizar obtained for 9,602 votes.

The Pelangai by-election nomination will be held on Sept 23, and polling day is set for Oct 7.

The Pelangai state seat fell vacant following the death of its first-term assemblyman, Datuk Seri Johari Harun, in a plane crash in Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam, on Aug 17.
