KUALA LUMPUR: Pas claimed that the party didn't receive any formal invitation to join the unity government.
Its deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the Islamist party's stance however remained the same and that it would not join the government even if it received an invitation in the future.
"Pas never received any official invitation letter (to join the unity government) as of yet," he said in a brief reply to the New Straits Times.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim recently said he had extended the olive branch to Pas to join the unity government and that there was the possibility that he was ready to consider making Pas a partner in the unity government.
In a recent interview with American-based news magazine Time, the PKR president and Pakatan Harapan chairman revealed that the government had already sent an invitation to Pas on the matter.
"Yes, I have been open to the idea from the beginning. After all, this is a unity government and we do what is best for our country," he was quoted as saying.
