Wan Fayshal reveals duo behind move to get opposition MPs support for Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal alleged that two individuals were responsible for 'pursuing' several opposition members to support the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He claime the two individuals were 'Datuk Botak' and Anwar's former political aide Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak.

"There is a video showing the identity of Datuk Botak, who played the role in bribing and threatening opposition MPs to support the prime minister.

"The video also explained the role played by the prime minister's former political aide in this matter. The video is viral on TikTok and Facebook," he told a press conference at the parliament's building today.

Wan Fayhsal said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) should be aware of the matter and take action regarding it.

"It is clear that the four Bersatu members of parliament (MPs) have been pressured and threatened with action by the MACC if they refused to provide support.

"This constitutes an abuse of power by the prime minister and is a form of corruption.

"Such act also violates the provisions of the Federal Constitution regarding party hopping law and contradicts democratic practices," he said.

Earlier, Wan Fayhsal, who is also Machang MP, said a police report was lodged over the allegations of bribery and threats on several Bersatu MPs, who declared support for Anwar, late last night.

Before that, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail in reply to Wan Fayhsal during the Minister's Question Time said no reports have been lodged with the police or the MACC over the allegations of bribery and threats on several Bersatu MPs.

Saifuddin said the matter was confirmed by the police and graftbuster this morning to the ministry.
