KUANTAN: Umno vice president Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail has asked Tony Pua to issue an apology and delete all his social media posts or face legal action following his recent comments on the Pardons Board's decision to reduce the prison sentence and fine imposed on former prime minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
He said that in the midst of Umno's sorrow, Tony Pua's actions, issuing insolent statements through several posts on his Facebook, mocking the Pardons Board's decision regarding Najib, clearly insult the country's legal system.
"His actions also seem to be an attempt to gain cheap publicity, as he is no longer receiving support from the people, including being rejected by his own party members and moving towards the end of his political career.
"Therefore, I urge Tony Pua to issue an apology and delete all his posts, or legal action may be taken against him," he said in a Facebook post today.
Regarding the Pardons Board's decision on Najib's application, Wan Rosdy and all Umno members are saddened and affected by the decision.
"However, we still respect the decision, even though the desire to see the former prime minister receive full pardon did not come true," he said.
Yesterday, Tony, who is also a former member of parliament for Petaling Jaya, uploaded several posts on his Facebook after the Pardons Board's decision on Najib.
The Pardons Board decided to halve Najib's prison sentence from 12 to 6 years, while the fine was reduced from RM210 million to RM50 million.
Najib was sentenced to 12 years in prison and fined RM210 million after being found guilty of abuse of power, breach of trust, and money laundering involving RM42 million from SRC International, a former subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
