KUALA TERENGGANU: Perikatan Nasional (PN) has yet to finalise the candidate who will contest in the Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB) by-election on May 11.
Bersatu information chief Datuk Razali Idris said the PN Presidential Council would determine the candidates at an upcoming special meeting.
He said despite the candidates not being decided upon, preparations for the by-election campaign had already been initiated.
"PN's election machinery is ready and in the spirit of 'warfare' to campaign to win the seat.
"Our machinery has been deployed and has engaged with voters at the grassroots level," he said.
Earlier, Razali, who is also a member of the Bersatu Supreme Council, held a special meeting with the party's information committee.
Razali, who is also the Terengganu Bersatu chief, acknowledged that there would be significant challenges in winning the seat.
However, he said PN had the advantage of attracting voter support, especially with various issues occurring under the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government.
The Election Commission (EC) has fixed May 11 for the KKB by-election.
The by-election is being held following the death of its three-term assemblywoman Lee Kee Hiong from the DAP.
Lee died on March 21 after a battle with cancer.
