GEORGE TOWN: Stories about the Chinese taking over Malaysia are lies, Parti Amanah Negara president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said.
He said such sentiment was being played up by certain quarters to garner support.
He said, in fact, the Chinese population was dwindling.
"The fact is that the allocation for Islam increases year after year. Such stories are being churned out to get votes," he said during the Ceramah Perpaduan in Sungai Duri here last night.
Mohamad said since more than one-and-the-half year of the unity government came into being , the rights of the Malays are not affected.
"The government defends the rights of all races, as enshrined in the Federal Constitution.
"As such, this government should last until its full time. After that, you want to vote in Pakatan Harapan or reject Perikatan Nasional, that is up to you.
"That is our hope," he added.
Mohamad was here to campaign for PH candidate Dr Joohari Ariffin for the Sungai Bakap by-election.
The by-election will see a straight fight between Joohari and PN's Abidin Ismail.
