NIBONG TEBAL: Police have received another report with regard to election offences for the Sungai Bakap by-election.
State police chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad said the latest report was received yesterday.
"We have opened an investigation paper under Section 4A of the Election Offences Act 1954. Investigations are ongoing," he said.
This brings to two the number of reports lodged over alleged election offences.
On Thursday, police received a report with regard to damaged Pakatan Harapan flags and campaign materials in Bandar Tasek Mutiara here.
The case was probed under Section 427 of the Penal Code.
It was reported that 38 PH banners and 53 flags were taken down and damaged, with some found inside drains, and replaced with Perikatan Nasional's (PN) campaign materials.
With just another two days to go to polling day, Hamzah urged all quarters to continue to refrain from any form of provocation.
"We want to thank all political parties and their supporters who have generally adhered to the rules put in place.
"We hope this momentum of cooperation will be continued until the end of the by-election.
"We also want to advise all parties again to refrain from playing up the 3R issue. We are constantly monitoring the situation," he added.
Meanwhile, Hamzah said police had approved 135 permits for campaigning since the start of the Sungai Bakap by-election.
He said no application had been rejected.
