I haven't disappeared, I'm in Pulai almost all the time, says Suhaizan

JOHOR BARU: Pulai member of parliament Suhaizan Kayat said he is always in the constituency except when he is attending Parliament sessions.

The Amanah MP denied state Umno leadership said claims that he 'disappeared' after winning the Pulai by-election on Sept 9, 2023.

Suhaizan said that since winning the seat, his service centre has remained open to assist residents in need.

"That's not true (the disappearance claim). I'm in Pulai almost all the time, conducting various activities for the people.

"The Parliamentary Service Centre is constantly thinking about how we can provide services to the people and every day people come for assistance.

"Even if I'm not here, it's usually because I'm attending Parliament sessions, but the service centre continues to operate, receiving and addressing complaints daily, especially concerning their welfare," he said during a 'viewing party' at the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) in Taman Cempaka today.

He was responding to comments by Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, who called on Suhaizan to fulfil his promises to help the Pulai constituency residents, including Umno members who supported his by-election victory.

Suhaizan highlighted various issues addressed in Pulai, such as securing funds to repair water pipes costing RM6 million.

"I recently brought up the case of Lily Jasmine Apartments to the Housing and Local Government Ministry to get funds for solving water pipe issues costing around RM6 million.

"If we don't help, the monthly water bill will keep rising. When I first visited, the cost was RM1.1 million, now it's RM1.4 million.

"If action is delayed, water loss costs will keep increasing, with the latest bill at RM1.4 million," he said.

Additionally, Suhaizan said numerous activities and assistance have been provided to the community, regardless of background, including to places of worship in Pulai.

On July 13, a local newspaper reported that Onn Hafiz, during a speech at the Umno Pulai Division Meeting, said that Suhaizan, also the Unity Government candidate from Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah), promised not to waste the by-election victory achieved with an 18,000-vote majority.
