No opposition leaders want to meet Anwar and Zahid, says Pas veep

KOTA BARU: A top Pas leader said no one from the opposition bloc wanted to meet Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim or his deputy Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Pas vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah claimed that this was because both leaders were known for not honouring their promises.

"As far as I know, no opposition leaders want to hold a discussion or meeting with the two leaders from the unity government because of their tendency to break promises," he said.

Mohd Amar, who is also Kelantan State Assembly Speaker, said at the moment, Pas and other parties in Perikatan Nasional are strengthening their cooperation within the pact

"We (the opposition bloc) need to strength our party as preparations to take over the unity government in the 16th general election," he added.

It was reported that Zahid recently revealed that there were requests from opposition representatives to meet him and Anwar to discuss on possible cooperation to face the 16th General Election.

Zahid, however, said he was neither open to the idea of cooperation nor to hold a meeting with the opposition representatives.

Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said he was not aware of any opposition leaders or members requesting to meet with top leaders of the unity government

Tuan Ibrahim said he had no information regarding any requests from opposition leaders to meet with Prime Minister and his deputy.

"Pas has never authorised any of its leaders to engage in discussions (regarding possible cooperation in the next general election).

"I also do not have any details regarding members of the opposition bloc, if any, who have requested as such (to meet Zahid and Anwar)," he said.
