GUA MUSANG: Barisan Nasional assemblyman for Nenggiri Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani has described his victory in the by-election as a blessing for his fourth child, expected to be born in October.
He also said the blessing and prayers from his mother, Zainun Yusoff. also helped him win in yesterday's polls.
"It was a tough fight between the Perikatan Nasional candidate Rizwadi Ismail and me, but praise be to God, with the support of party leaders, members and the prayers from my 67-year-old mother, l managed to face him and win.
"I described this as a great gift to me and my family and a blessing for my coming child as my wife Nur Kamilah Mat Zain is about seven months pregnant," said the 38-year-old.
Asked about his next move, Azmawi said he planned to meet as many voters as he could, to thank them for selecting him.
"At the moment, l will spend some time with them either at the coffee shops or going to their villages.
"I believe this is the best way to thank those who helped me a lot," he added.
Barisan Nasional has captured the Nenggiri state seat after Azmawi won the Nenggiri by-election yesterday.
Azmawi garnered 9,091 votes, defeating Rizwadi who received 5,739 votes.
