KUALA LUMPUR: PKR Wanita is strategising plans to ensure the win of the unity government's candidate in the upcoming Nenggiri by-election on Aug 17.
Its chief, Fadhlina Sidek, said the wing will provide full commitment to ensure the campaign machinery is mobilised, as was done during previous elections.
"We will give our full commitment to ensure that the machinery is deployed and to ensure victory (of the unity government) in the Nenggiri by-election.
"We already know who the candidate is and the role of the wing is to solely focus on the campaign, as well as to draw up strategies to win the state seat," she said.
Fadhlina said this to reporters after the launch of the Merdeka 2024 Collection by Prospec KPM X Fazura.
Barisan Nasional previously announced that it will field Kelantan Umno Youth chief Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani for the Nenggiri state seat by-election.
The announcement was made by State Umno liaison committee chairman Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub, who is also the BN operations director for Nenggiri by-election.
The by-election was called after the Kelantan Speaker Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah declared the state seat previously held by Mohd Azizi Abu Naim vacant.
Mohd Azizi, who is also the Gua Musang MP, is among the seven elected representatives sacked from Bersatu for declaring their support for the unity government.
During the Kelantan state election in August last year, Mohd Azizi secured a slim majority of 810 votes to win Nenggiri in a straight fight against a BN candidate.
