Dr Sam: Keep serving community despite Nenggiri defeat

KUALA LUMPUR: Pas vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar wants party representatives to continue serving the community.

This comes after Pas' Nenggiri by-election defeat yesterday, which saw Barisan Nasional (BN) capturing the state seat with a 3,352 vote majority.

Samsuri, who is also the Terengganu Menteri Besar, said winning or losing should not deter the party from serving the community.

"Continue to serve, as losing does not mean we should stop serving the community and those around us," he said in a Facebook post yesterday.

Meanwhile, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to all Perikatan Nasional machinery who had dedicated their time, energy and resources in their effort to win the by-election.

"Only Allah can grant you the greatest reward. Thank you to the people of Nenggiri for fulfilling their responsibilities," he added.

BN's candidate Mohd Asmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani garnered 9,091 votes, defeating PN's Rizwadi Ismail who received 5,739 votes.
