Mahkota by-election: Blackout disrupts PN's command centre operations

KLUANG: A blackout has disrupted Perikatan Nasional's (PN) operations at its Mahkota command centre since 2.30pm today, due to a short circuit in Tenaga Nasional's power supply.

A PN spokesman said TNB's main electricity cable on Jalan Dahlia experienced a short circuit.

"We have alerted TNB on the issue, but it has yet to rectify the problem," he shared in PN's Mahkota Whatsapp group today.

The by-election is seeing a straight fight between Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah and Perikatan Nasional's (PN) Mohamad Haizan Jaafar.

The previous Mahkota assemblyman, the late Datuk Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain, won the seat with a 5,166-vote majority in the Johor state election two years ago.

Polling centres will be closed at simultaneously at 6pm.

The vote tallying will take place at Dewan Tunku Ibrahim Ismail.

Unofficial results are expected by 9pm.
