Mahkota by-election: Confinement did not stop young mother from voting [WATCH]

KLUANG: A 19-year-old woman, who is still in confinement, did not let such a situation get in her way from voting during the polling day for the Mahkota state seat by-election today.

Nur Syafiqah Azani, holding her one-month-old baby girl Nur Syafaa Atiya Riyadh Irfan in her arms, arrived at the SMK Seri Perdana polling station at 8.40am.

Accompanied by her husband, Nur Syafiqah said her family left their home in Tampoi, Johor Baru, at around 4am and would head home immediately after finishing voting.

"I didn't want to miss the opportunity because this is the first time I am fulfilling my responsibility as a constituent in the Mahkota state seat.

"I am originally from Sarawak and moved to Taman Murni here in 2016 with my family, which is why I was automatically registered as a voter at 18 here.

"I checked the electoral roll last year and confirmed that I was eligible to vote in today's by-election," she said when met here today.
