KUALA LUMPUR: Umno has lifted the six-year suspension of former Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, effective immediately.
Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the decision was made in accordance with the party's constitution.
"The Supreme Council unanimously agreed to revoke the suspension of Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman's membership in accordance with Clause 10.6 and Clause 5.3 of the party's constitution," he said in a statement.
Tajuddin, who was former Pasir Salak member of Parliament, was suspended from Umno for six years in October 2022 over his criticism of party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
About four months before his suspension, Tajuddin was removed from his post in the party supreme Council and dropped as Malaysia's ambassador to Indonesia.
On a separate matter, the supreme council said the party's proposed political school would focus on statehood, the constitution, democratic political dynamics, service politics, and devotion to the people.
Asyraf also congratulated Umno Veteran chairman Datuk Othman Desa on his appointment to the council.
