Zahid, Tajuddin mend ties at Umno General Assembly?

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman may have mended ties at the Umno General Assembly.

Photos showing the Umno president and former Umno Supreme Council member shaking hands and embracing have surfaced online.

It is learnt that the pictures were taken when Tajuddin, who has been critical of the Umno top leadership, including Zahid, went to the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre for the assembly yesterday.

Today, Zahid said he would discuss Tajuddin's appeal to lift his suspension from the party during the Supreme Council meeting.

"I will raise the matter during the Umno Supreme Council meeting," he said briefly, without specifying the date of the meeting.

Tajuddin had said he hoped his appeal to overturn his six-year suspension from the party would be accepted.

He said two appeals had been rejected and he had yet to receive an answer for the last appeal he made in March.

Tajuddin was suspended from Umno in October 2022. He was not selected to defend the Pasir Salak parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election.

Last month, Zahid said Umno was open to accepting former members who want to rejoin the party.

"The disciplinary board and political bureau will look such applications."
