DEAR Editor, It is with deep sorrow and pain that I write to inform you of the flooding of our building that took place today, 29th September 2019, at 3pm.
The vehicles parked in the basement car park of Block 7 are still underwater, causing damage to multiple vehicles and to the building, which has been an iconic building for 30 years.
We are owners of our properties. We are worried for our safety and that of our assets.
On November 2018, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) cut down 12 Angsana trees which had protected our boundary wall, which had been in existence for 30 years.
We protested against those who came to cut them down in the night. We also wrote a letter to the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur and went to the DBKL building to meet the Mayor and hand him the protest letter.
The person at the desk told us that the mayor was in a meeting and accepted the letter.
However, nothing was done to save the trees, even though they said that action would be taken. As a result, our boundary wall has been exposed to numerous problems and in the process, depriving us of our sound barrier and air purifier which the trees provided.
Now, they have started constructing a flyover by the side of our boundary wall and dug up the buffer constructed with granite, which had protected the boundary for 30 years, and replaced it with their own drainage system, which is the cause of the flooding today.
We, the residents, through the management and the residents’ committee of Ixora Apartments, are filing two lawsuits against DBKL and Naza Engineering for gross negligence and for due compensation to be granted to us, for the grave losses over our property and our assets.
