LETTERS: While on YouTube recently, I came across a Chinese invention that uses a laser beam to trim or prune large branches of tall trees.
I thought about how we could use this technology to harvest oil palm fruit bunches.
The harvesting will be less laborious, safer, economical and can overcome worker shortages.
Transporting harvested bunches by wheelbarrows or manually carrying them to roads, especially on uneven terrain, are tough tasks.
Harvesting the bunches in an easier, timely and a cost-effective way is a challenge. The laser method could be an effective solution.
