MAH Sing Group Bhd, which has half its development earmarked for greenery, is using various species of plants and trees for the six zones at its Southville City in Bangi, Selangor.
Its chief executive officer Datuk Ho Hon Sang said the plants and trees represent the different themes that allow for better zone identification at the township.
“For instance, plantings at Leafy Barrier aims to provide durable and resilient green tree lines to frame the expressway while providing a physical sound barrier for the residential developments beside the road. Trees with dense branching, such as Shorea roxburghii, Fagraea fragrans and low maintenance shrub hedges like as Murraya paniculata are proposed.
“At the roundabout, coloured leafy and flower plantings are chosen to transition seamlessly from streetscape of the same concept. These plants are Tabernaemontana divaricata ‘dwarf’, Duranta repens and Loropetalum chinense,” he told NST Property.
Ho said plantings at Prismatic Way tie in with residential, urban park and commercial developments by incorporating elements of the plant palettes of the developments, creating a dynamic lush green spine.
The main tree of this road is the Pentaspadon motleyi, which represents the diversity and dynamism of the project. Diverse tropical forest plants with an emphasis on flowering trees and plants of contrasting colours include Ormosia sumatrana, Loropetalum chinenses and Acalypha siamensis.
The planting concept for Ivory Lane includes providing a sense of escape through colours and textures, inviting the residents of the nearby residential back home. It uses similar planting palette to surrounding project while creating a plain backdrop and shades to accentuate the projects. The type of plants proposed are drought-tolerance ones such as Syzygium polyanthum, Andira inermis, Tabernaemontana divaricata “dwarf”, Duranta repens, Loropetalum chinenses, Murraya paniculata and Gardenia jasminoides.
The planting concept for Golden Pass include a forest that changes colours with the seasons, turning golden yellow, then red, emulating the autumn of temperate countries.
The planting concept for Formal Avenue uses columnar uniform trees to create a strong avenue effect. Trees and plantings use similar colour schemes and accents to those of the developments in the area. The plant types are red and yellow plants, with formal columnar trees, straight hedges and occasional accent plants. These include Livistona Rotundifolia, Terminalia mantaly, Alstonia Angustifolia, Podocarpus Macrophyllus, Murraya Paniculata, Tabernaemontana Divaricata, Jatropha Integerrima and Acalypha siamensis.
The planting concept for Purple Road at the township includes wild, natural planting breaks from formal planting of formal avenue to a more natural planting of tropical plants to indicate a change in purpose of the area. The plants proposed have leaves or flowers that are purple such as Jacaranda obtusifolia, Eugenia oleina, Loropetalum chinenses.
