Eco Tropics offers accessible community living

ECO World Development Group Bhd’s Eco Tropics development in Masai, Pasir Gudang offers accessible and convenient community living in an area which is associated with industries.

Eco World began development of the 404.7ha Eco Tropics in 2013.

Its divisional general manager Phan Yan Chan said when Eco World bought the land, the area already had a population of about 60,000.

“People usually associate Pasir Gudang with industrial activities. We feel that it has been neglected in terms of residential development within Iskandar Malaysia.

“We saw potential in developing the area into a fully-gated and guarded township with community living. In the first year, we concentrated on planning the development and how to transform the area,” he told NST Property.

Phan said the first thing the company did was to improve the accessibility and connectivity of Eco Tropics.

“We are now constructing a 500m road to connect the development with Pasir Gudang Port. This will reduce travel time between Masai and the port by 25 minutes.

“The construction is about 50 per cent completed and we expect it to be fully-developed by the end of this year. We are also upgrading several roads in the area.”

He said over the last five years, Eco World had developed about 30 per cent of the land.

“The first phase of the development consisted of 800 units of the Greensgate double-storey terraced houses. We are in the process of handing over the houses, which is part of our Living Gardens development.”

He said the Living Gardens consists of five precincts and is inspired by the country resort lifestyle of the Hamptons.

“The next phase will consist of bungalow lots and garden homes, which is expected to be launched next year.”

Phan said another feature that makes Eco Tropics attractive is the landscaping.

“There will be two public parks in Eco Tropics, namely West Lake Gardens and East Lake Gardens. West Lake Gardens is an old retention pond that we transformed into a beautiful public park.

“Besides the parks, we ensure that our units have easy access to green space. This is one of the selling points for Eco Tropics.”

Phan said Eco Tropics will be fully developed within eight years and will have a total gross development value of about RM5 billion.
