Lagenda Properties intends to incorporate recreational parks into existing and future affordable housing projects

Lagenda Properties Berhad has entered into a 10-year partnership with Sim Leisure Group Ltd to incorporate a recreational park into its affordable housing developments and integrated townships.

Sim Leisure is an internationally renowned theme park designer and operator and the owner of ESCAPE Penang, which boasts the world's longest water slide.

The partnership revolves around Sim Leisure Group's design, construction, and operation of recreational parks within Lagenda's existing and future affordable township developments to elevate leisure areas with exciting and family-friendly attractions.

In this collaborative effort, Lagenda aims to optimise green spaces beyond the standard park and playground set-up in its current and future townships, instilling a sense of pride and vibrancy among homeowners.

This is consistent with the company's core goal of developing affordable housing townships that provide homeowners with maximum value, well-planned, and distinctive homes – along with a strong emphasis on sustainable, unique, and family-oriented facilities to improve their quality of life.

To accomplish this, Lagenda has set aside land ranging from 20,000 square feet to a few acres for such recreational parks, with commercial and non-commercial elements separated. The emphasis will also be on using environmentally friendly materials and construction methods, in line with Lagenda's commitment to promoting ESG elements in each township, adding to the townships' existing solar power push.

"We are constantly looking for ways to add value to our affordable townships further. Lagenda focuses on a commercial approach to development planning and delivery but is always hand in hand with community needs. Partnering with Sim Leisure Group will provide residents with fantastic theme park styled common areas with sustainability at the heart of the development." said Datuk Jimmy Doh, the managing director of Lagenda.

ESCAPE is a nature-oriented resort. Penang is not only enjoyable but also environmentally friendly and family-friendly.

Doh said both the companies' shared values resulted in a natural fit in terms of partnership and bringing such expertise into its townships.

Sim Leisure Group founder and chief executive officer Sim Choo Kheng said that this collaboration with Lagenda is history in the making because it essentially marks the future of housing development and planning.

"I truly commend and applaud Lagenda for being a pioneer in this area and embarking on this game-changing journey with us," he said.

Sim said that going beyond the traditional concept of neighbourhood playgrounds, the new recreational parks – ESCAPE Kids – will carry the brand's unique identity, bringing with it a new dimension of fun and excitement to recreation within township communities.

Lagenda began its journey in affordable housing development in early 2018, focusing on its core expertise of developing self-sustaining townships, prioritising community-based facilities and public amenities that meet the needs of most Malaysian homebuyers in the B40 M40 income groups.

The company's developments have successfully provided homes to over 15,000 Malaysian families, demonstrating a solid belief that cost-effective homes are not just for specific segments of the public but everyone.

Each community is self-sustaining and equipped with all necessary amenities, resulting in a high-quality lifestyle and long-term stakeholders residents.

With the ongoing rise in property prices, which are frequently too high for new families and the majority of the M40 and B40 groups, Lagenda's affordable housing projects reduce social inequity and successfully bring people together from all social circles, reflecting Malaysia's diversity.
