Think City and ICCN to expand the concept of 'creative cities'

Khazanah Nasional Berhad's Think City and Indonesia Creative Cities Network (ICCN) will work together to increase collaboration between Malaysia and Indonesia in "creative cities" - a term used to describe cities that put creativity at the heart of urban development.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the two parties in Bali, Indonesia, on the sidelines of the World Conference on Creative Economy.

It highlights the importance and visibility of both ICCN and Think City's strategic activities as well as their pragmatism and high calibre work they carry out.

According to a statement from ICCN, the collaboration positions itself as a cooperative endeavour for strengthening the contribution of creative cities to the global economy and for revitalising international alliances to better support the cultural and creative industries.

"The collaboration paves the way for social, cultural, and economic development in the region, as well as enhanced working relationships with local communities and civil society to seed ideas, knowledge, and innovation," it said.

Development and technical assistance with urban areas to enhance liveability and create resilience to the effects of climate change and other global shocks are additional items covered under the MoU.
