First PR1MA township for Teluk Intan breaks ground

KUALA LUMPUR: Projects worth about RM520 million have been approved to enhance the lives of people in Teluk Intan, Perak, according to Housing and Local Government Minister (KPKT) Nga Kor Ming.

They include the RM511 million Bandar PR1MA Teluk Intan affordable township development, as well as new projects and maintenance works in the district.

The Bandar PR1MA Teluk Intan project will feature 1,500 units of affordable, eco-friendly homes.

Spanning over 56.7 hectares of land owned by Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA), this is the largest township project to date. It will include residential parks, commercial centres, recreational parks, and various community facilities.

Nga highlighted that this township project will be a landmark not only for Teluk Intan residents but also for Malaysia, as it aims to transform the affordable housing landscape.

"It will be the first PR1MA township to be developed. It is the ministry's commitment to build 500,000 affordable homes nationwide," Nga said in a statement after the project's groundbreaking ceremony recently.

The township will incorporate smart home technology, aligning with KPKT's efforts to create a smart city, he said.

This strategic initiative addresses key challenges in making Malaysian cities more productive, sustainable, resilient, and livable for current and future generations.

Nga hoped that all parties would collaborate with KPKT to help Malaysians access high-quality, comfortable, and sustainable affordable homes.

PR1MA group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Mohd Nazri Md. Shariff said that the Bandar PR1MA township project is part of the agency's aim to provide 37,526 new housing units by 2029, supporting the national housing agenda.

He emphasised that PR1MA aims not only to build affordable houses but also to foster a modern and inclusive community, ensuring a comfortable and harmonious living environment.

"The Madani concept is the main foundation for achieving PR1MA's long-term goal of providing affordable housing for Malaysians. Thus, Bandar PR1MA will become a new landmark in Teluk Intan with a modern and sustainable lifestyle, high-quality residences, high habitability, and environment-friendly infrastructure," he added.
