New Zealand house prices fall 3.1 pct in May m/m - REINZ

WELLINGTON: New Zealand house prices fell again in May amid investor caution and challenges in getting financing, the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ) said on Monday.

Seasonally adjusted median house prices dipped 3.1 per cent from April and were down 1.3 per cent from a year earlier, REINZ data showed.

Seasonally adjusted national home sales volumes fell 4.9 per cent from April but rose almost 5.2 per cent from May 2023.

"There's solid buyer interest and activity, and more listings are coming to a well-stocked market," chief executive Jen Baird said in a statement.

"While some buyers are taking their time, others are snapping up properties at attractive prices," she added.
