PNB committed to improving public safety infrastructure at Merdeka 118

KUALA LUMPUR: Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB), through its subsidiary PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd (PMVSB), is committed to improving public safety infrastructure with the redevelopment of the Tun H.S. Lee Police Station within the Merdeka 118 precinct.

The redevelopment project of the police station follows the signing of a privatisation agreement in July 2022 between the Ministry of Home Affairs, Syarikat Tanah dan Harta Sdn Bhd, and PMVSB.

PMVSB chief executive officer Datuk Tengku Ab. Aziz Tengku Mahmud said the company is fully committed to ensuring the surrounding communities remain safe and continue to flourish alongside the development of Merdeka 118.

"We have invested significantly in upgrading the infrastructure around the precinct, and the redevelopment of Tun H.S. Lee Police Station is a reflection of our dedication.

"Today's signing ceremony goes beyond infrastructure improvements; it's about elevating the everyday lives of the community through the construction of modern homes and amenities for the Royal Malaysia Police.

"We remain focused on finding ways to further enhance the Merdeka 118 precinct and positively contribute to its growth and prosperity," he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, a supplementary agreement signing ceremony was also held for the construction of 150 housing units for the Royal Malaysia Police for Project Scope 2.

These 29-floor housing units, located near the police station, will offer modern and convenient living spaces designed to enhance the well-being of the police force and their families.

Project Scope 1 and Project Scope 3 are tentatively scheduled to complete in 36 months and 12 months, respectively, while the construction of Project Scope 2 is expected to complete in 36 months.

To date, PMVSB has invested a significant amount for infrastructure development around the Merdeka 118 precinct, aimed at improving accessibility, safety, and overall convenience for visitors and the local communities.

This includes the construction of covered walkways and pedestrian bridges to ensure safe passage for pedestrians, a 1 km tunnel under Jalan Belfield providing seamless parking access from key roads such as Jalan Syed Putra and Jalan Istana, and a newly built elevated U-turn at Jalan Hang Jebat to facilitate smoother traffic flow in the surrounding area
