KUALA LUMPUR: Lee Zii Jia produced a near-perfect performance to beat World No 1 Kento Momota to advance to the semi-finals of the All England.
Zii Jia, the World No 10, defeated the Japanese star 21-16, 21-19 in the quarter-finals at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham on Friday.
It was a fantastic result for the 22-year-old Malaysian who had lost all his six previous meetings to Momota.
The Kedah-born will face Dutchman Mark Caljouw on Saturday for a place in the final.
The World No 36 booked his semi-final spot by beating India's Lakshya Sen 21-17, 16-21, 21-17 in the last eight.
