Aaron can finally hold wedding reception

KUALA LUMPUR: It's time for Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik to share their glories with family members and friends.

The national men's doubles pair returned to a rousing reception in Kuala Lumpur today after capturing the World Championships title in Tokyo.

Aaron-Wooi Yik decided to pull out of this week's Japan Open as Aaron has a shoulder injury.

Aaron and Wooi Yik, who were greeted by their loved ones at KLIA, will take a short break before rejoining training.

The 25-year-old Aaron plans to have his long-delayed wedding reception with his sweetheart Goh Mui Kee, while the 24-year-old Wooi Yik looks forward to spending quality time with his family.

"We aim to gradually reach the world number one spot, a target which we must work hard for but we will take a short break," said Aaron yesterday.

"I will take a break to recover from my shoulder injury... it's not a serious injury. I felt some discomfort during the World Championships, but I played on. So now I will rest to recover.

"During this period, I also plan to have my wedding reception after a long delay."

Meanwhile, Wooi Yik said the reception that he and Aaron received from fans at KLIA today was as good as when they won an Olympics bronze last year.

"We thank the fans for their support. We really appreciate it.

"I want to spend time with my family. I have not really spent time with them for quite some time, so I want to be with them.

"The plan is to spend the next four days with them before going back to training."
