KUALA LUMPUR: Shuttler Pearly Tan will be out of action for "a number of weeks" after injuring her hamstring and knee in last week's Japan Open in Osaka.
An MRI, conducted by the National Sports Institute (NSI), revealed minor injuries to the women's doubles shuttler's left hamstring and knee tendon.
BA of Malaysia (BAM) high performance director Dr Tim Jones said: "Based on the MRI, the outlook is positive and rehab should last four to six weeks.
"During the first few weeks, we will be careful with the left leg, but all other areas can still be trained. This will aid her recovery and ensure less muscle loss from lack of on-court training.
"We will monitor her improvements with NSI's assistance, and this will help the accuracy of our prediction for Pearly's return to court.
"Also during this time, we can arrange training in other areas such as performance analysis and improving nutrition."
On whether Pearly, who makes up the world No 11 pairing with M. Thinaah, can be back for the Super 750 Denmark and French Opens next month, Jones added: "Unlikely at this point... depending on how the first few weeks go."
