KUALA LUMPUR: Indonesian badminton coach Indra Wijaya confirmed today that he has parted ways with world No 2 Lee Zii Jia.
Indra, a former singles coach with the BA of Malaysia (BAM), left the national association early this year to join Zii Jia and his professional team.
However, following a meeting on Friday, the 48-year-old confirmed that he is now a free agent and is back with his family in Jakarta.
"I had a meeting with Zii Jia and his manager (Lee Zii Yii) on Friday.
"According to Zii Jia, he wants to try something different by going solo, without a coach.
"I respect his decision and we parted ways on a good note," Indra said today.
Indra, said he is now free and is open to new coaching offers and opportunities.
"Yes i am free now and am open to new challenges," he added.
On whether he was the only one to leave Team Lee Zii Jia, Indra said: "I am not sure about the rest. The discussion only involved me and the manager."
