KUALA LUMPUR: To all local badminton fans, it is time to get excited!
The tickets for the Malaysia Open, which will be held at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil from Jan 10-15, will go on sale starting Monday.
The Malaysia Open — the World Tour's season opener — is one of four Super 1000 meets.
The others are the All England, Indonesia Open and the China Open.
World No. 1 men's and women's singles and doubles — Viktor Axelsen of Denmark and Akane Yamaguchi of Japan, Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi (Japan), Chen Qing Chen-Jia Yi Fan (China) and Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Sapsiree Taerattanachai (Thailand) — are among the shuttlers who will be vying for titles in the tournament.
"We are expecting an exciting tournament as top players will be attempting to start the season with a bang," said BA of Malaysia secretary-general Datuk Kenny Goh today.
World No 2 Lee Zii Jia, Chia and Soh Wooi Yik and Pearly Tan-M Thinaah are among Malaysia's top draw in the tournament.
