KUALA LUMPUR: There was double joy for Malaysia at the Uganda International Challenge after Justin Hoh claimed the men's singles title on Sunday.
Justin, touted to be a future star, was in sizzling form as he went on to rout India's M Kanishq 21-8, 21-12 in the final.
The Kuala Lumpur-born's victory came hours after K. Letshanaa bagged the women's singles title, following her stunning 21-11, 21-8 upset over two-time European Championships bronze medallist Neslihan Yigit of Turkiye.
Prior to the Uganda IC, Justin reached the semi-finals of the Estonia International in January before settling for second at the Iran IC earlier this month.
"I'm really happy because finally I've won my first title of the year," said Justin, who was promoted to train with the senior players late last year.
Meanwhile in Milan, Malaysia won two titles from three final appearances at the Italian Juniors.
In the boys' doubles final, Kang Kai Xing-Aaron Tai stunned top seeds Daniel Franco-Rodrigo Sanjurjo of Spain 29-27, 21-14.
In the girls' singles final, Yi Xing Ung also upset the top seed, Sirada Roongpiboomsopit of Thailand 22-20, 21-16 to land the title.
It was unfortunate for Malaysia to not complete the hattrick after Aaron-Chan Wen Tse fell 21-19, 21-15 to Thailand's Tanakorn Meechai-Fungfa Korpthammakit in the mixed doubles final.
