Team Zii Jia make an offer to settle dispute, Indra's lawyer confirms

KUALA LUMPUR: Despite exceeding the seven-day period set by the Industrial Relations Department (JPP), Team Lee Zii Jia (LZJ), it is learnt, have made an offer to former coach Indra Wijaya.

Indra's lawyer, Muhammad Yazid Mohamad Salim, confirmed the matter with Timesport but explained that he is not at liberty to disclose the contents of the offer made.

"I can confirm that there has been an offer from Team LZJ to coach Indra. This came after the seven-day period set by the JPP after the first mediation session.

"However, I do not have instructions from coach Indra to share the details of the offer. It is private and confidential.

"Coach Indra has also not made up his mind on the offer," said Yazid.

Yazid added that the JPP has given Indonesian Indra until March 13 (2023) to respond to the offer.

Indra, who is pursuing a lawsuit for an alleged unfair dismissal by team LZJ, recently took up a coaching role with the All Indonesia Badminton Association (PSBI) as women's singles head.

For the record, Indra officially joined Team LZJ in March last year, before he was unceremoniously dropped from the independent shuttler's team in November.

According to Indra, in his exclusive chronology of events with Timesport, he had signed a three-year contract until 2024.

Should all efforts of mediation fail, the case will be referred to full hearing at the Industrial Court of Malaysia by the JPP.

Zii Jia is currently in Mulheim for the German Open this week. The 25-year-old will then head to Birmingham for the Super 1000 All England.
