Tang Jie-Ee Wei defeat marks end of Malaysia's challenge in mixed doubles

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's interests in the China Open mixed doubles event, ended in the semi-finals on Saturday.

Playing in their maiden Super 1000 last four, World No. 11 Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei couldn't cap it with a final appearance, when they lost 21-16, 21-13 to France's Thom Gicquel-Delphine Delrue.

The French world No 8, who lost to Tang Jie-Ee Wei at the World Championships in Copenhagen two weeks ago, will play reigning world champions Seo Seung Jae-Chae Yu Jung of South Korea next.

Earlier, the Koreans defeated world No. 23 independents Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing 21-19, 21-11.
