KUALA LUMPUR: Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik lived up to their billing by checking into the second round of the Indonesia Open.
On Tuesday, the former world champions made quick work of the United States' Vinson Chiu-Joshua Yuan 21-14, 21-11 in the first round at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta.
World No. 5 Aaron-Wooi Yik will play Taiwan's Lu Ching Yao-Yang Po Han next for a place in the quarter-finals.
Earlier, world No. 20 Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun stunned reigning world champions Kang Min Hyuk-Seo Seung Jae of South Korea 20-22, 21-16, 21-17 in the opening round.
The Malaysians will face Denmark's Rasmus Kjaer-Frederik Sogaard next.
"We're very happy to finally get a breakthrough in a Super 1000 event, because previously we always crashed out in the first round.
"I think this time around we played without any pressure and just enjoyed ourselves on court," Wei Chong told the Badminton World Federation (BWF).
Also reaching the second round on Tuesday were Lee Zii Jia and Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah.
The second half of first round matches will commence on Wednesday.
