Malaysian shuttlers notch another effortless win at Asia Juniors

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia continued their impressive run at the Badminton Asia Junior Mixed Team Championships by defeating Kazakhstan 5-0 in their second Group B match in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, on Saturday.

Malaysia's Ong Xin Yee started the ball rolling by defeating Alissa Kuleshova 21-3, 21-3 in just 17 minutes in a girls' singles match at Among Rogo Sports Hall.

The world No.12 junior shuttler hopes the victory would boost her confidence against tougher opponents.

"I'm getting more comfortable playing more matches, I controlled the game today and hope to do better in the upcoming matches," she said.

In the second match of the tie, Malaysia's Roslie Razeeq Danial thrashed Otabek Kamilov 21-9 21-6 in the boys' singles, which lasted only 19 minutes.

Nicole Chau-Carmen Ting extended Malaysia's lead to an unassailable 3-0 by beating Alissa Kuleshova-Diana Namenova 21-3 21-5 in the girls' doubles.

Goh Yi Qin-Lok Hong Quan continued Malaysia's dominance with a 21-8 21-7 victory over Aituar Romazanov-Arnur Tapishev in the boys' doubles.

Kang Khai Xing-Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan sealed Malaysia's 5-0 victory by defeating Otabek Kamilov-Diana Namenova 21-2 21-7 in the mixed doubles.

Noraqilah expressed satisfaction with her partnership with Khai Xing, noting improvements in their performance.

"Khai Xing is a senior, and he motivates me during matches. It has only been two matches here, but I believe we are getting better. However, we still must work on our limitations," she said.

Malaysia, who defeated Macau in their opening tie on Friday, will conclude the group stage against the United Arab Emirates on Sunday.
