Boost from ex-world champions for Aaron-Khai Xing

KUALA LUMPUR: Preparing with former world badminton champions has given doubles pair Aaron Tai-Kang Khai Xing an advantage in the World Junior Championships (WJC) in Nanchang, China, from Sept 30 to Oct 5.

The world No. 1 ranked junior pair have been sparring with 2022 world champions Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik in the lead-up to the WJC.

Aaron-Khai Xing, who are Malaysia's best hope to win gold at the WJC, won silver at the Asian Junior Championships in Yogjakarta in July.

Aaron said they hope to absorb the aura of the former world champions and be inspired.

"The feel of training with the world champions is different, they have a different aura.

"Coach Rexy Mainaky has given us the chance to train with them and we have grabbed this opportunity.

"Hopefully the experience we gained from training with Aaron-Wooi Yik will help us win a medal," Khai Xing said at Academy Badminton Malaysia in Bukit Kiara, today.

The 18-year-old added that the seniors have given them a lot of guidance and advice.

The Melaka-born Aaron said the experience from playing on the World Tour will help them greatly at the WJC.

"We have learned that playing against better opposition … we need to be more patient."
