The 22-year-old won 21-18, 21-14 in 40 minutes. And in the second round of the qualifiers, he defeated Japan's world No. 200 Keita Makino 21-15, 21-18.
Jing Hong will face Japan's world No. 54 Koo Takahashi in the first round of the tournament proper.
In men's doubles, Lim Tze Jian-Wong Tien Ci, who were runners-up at the Malaysia International Challenge last week, beat Japan's Keiichiro Matsui-Katsukei Tamate 21-14, 10-21, 21-18 to book their spot in the main draw where they will play China's Sun Wen Jun-Zhu Yi Jun in the first round.
Goh Boon Zhe-Sean Wong defeated Thailand's Neuaduang Mangkornloi-Songpon Sae Ma 22-20, 21-14 to advance to the main draw against compatriots Chia Wei Jie-Lwi Sheng Hao.
Bryan Goonting-Fazriq Razif reached the second round of the main draw after defeating Taiwan's Lin Bing Wei-Su Ching Heng 21-15, 21-19.
Also reaching the second round were Nur Azriyn Ayub-Tan Wee Kiong who defeated Chen Bo Yang-Guo Ruo Han 21-17, 21-16.
Low Hang Yee-Ng Eng Cheong lost 21-16, 21-12 in the first round to Taiwan's Chen Cheng Kuan-Chen Sheng Fa.
Lau Yi Sheng-Lee Yi Bo also suffered the same fate, being sent home early by the tournament's third seeds Peeratchai Sukphun-Pakkapon Teeraratsakul from Thailand, 21-17, 21-11.
Boon Xin Yuan-Goh V Shem had to book an early flight home too, after losing to Chang Ko Chi-Chen Xin Yuan 18-21, 21-18, 13-21.
Go Pei Kee-Teoh Mei Xing were stopped 21-17, 17-21, 18-21 by China's Ding Ke Yun-Luo Yi in the qualifying round of the women's doubles.
