James quits BAM for coaching role in the Czech Republic

KUALA LUMPUR: James Chua has resigned as the national men's singles coach to take up an offer in the Czech Republic.

James, the 2002 Malaysia Open champion, was hired by the BA of Malaysia (BAM) in 2022 to coach the national women's singles shuttlers.

However, a year later, he was reassigned to assist former world champion and chief coach Hendrawan in overseeing the men's singles squad.

The Malaysian International Challenge in Ipoh last week was James' final assignment as a BAM employee.

He will now head to the Czech Republic, where he has accepted the role of national chief coach, assuming the position from Oct 1.

BAM acting president Datuk V. Subramaniam confirmed James' departure.

"It was mutually agreed, and James has left BAM."
