KUALA LUMPUR: Para-shuttler Cheah Liek Hou is a hard man to please.
Despite winning his second consecutive Paralympic men's singles SU5 (physical impairment) gold medal at the Paris Games in September, Liek Hou is still determined to finish the season on a high.
With an unbeaten record in all five competitions, the 36-year-old hopes to cap off his incredible season with another victory at the Bahrain Para Badminton International in Manama from Dec 11-15.
"I will try my best to win in Bahrain. After returning from Paris, I didn't undergo intensive training as I was focused on recovery.
"I will restart intensive training next month to prepare for the tournament. If my condition is okay, I hope to close the season with a victory in Bahrain," said the eight-time world champion.
In the Paris Paralympics final, world No. 1 Liek Hou defeated Indonesia's Suryo Nugroho 21-13, 21-15 in 42 minutes.
Aside from his Paris 2024 gold, Liek Hou also claimed four other titles this year — the Para World Championships, the Spanish Para International I and II, as well as the 4 Nations Para International. – BERNAMA
