KUALA LUMPUR: Mixed doubles shuttler Toh Ee Wei is chomping at the bit to return to the World Tour after a short lay-off.
She required 16 stitches after a piece of glass cut her left arm in a freak gym accident.
Because of the injury, Ee Wei and her partner, Chen Tang Jie, had to skip the Artic and Denmark Opens.
The 24-year-old said she is excited to return to this year's remaining World Tour tournaments. The World No. 9 pair are likely to play in the Japan Masters next month.
"It has been an amazing year for us, we qualified for the Olympics and played at the highest stage.
"I want to give credit to my partner, coach and the BA of Malaysia for their hard work and support," she said.
Ee Wei also expressed her excitement for next year, in anticipation of the Sudirman Cup and World Championships.
But the Melaka shuttler is not getting ahead of herself. "Every tournament is very important for us next year. A lot of time is left until then, so we will focus on each tournament individually.
"I don't want to set any targets for now, so I don't put unnecessary pressure on myself or my partner."
